About 20 of our year 8 pupils were selected by their French teacher to take part in the latest Routes into Languages and Cardiff University’s highly successful MFL Student mentoring programme. Our mentor, Morgan, joined us again to deliver 6 half-hour sessions with the pupils. The aim of the scheme is to highlight the benefits of learning a modern foreign language at GCSE and beyond and to broaden the horizons and aspirations of some of our talented linguists. Morgan also talked to them about opportunities available to those with language skills and about how to improve their resilience in learning a modern foreign language. The programme feeds into the government’s global futures plan – that school leavers have international communication knowledge of two other languages as well as their own, to improve their opportunities in the global job market. Well done to all the pupils involved!
